Railcars

It seems like only yesterday when scrap prices were in the toilet and moving metal was not worth the fuel.  Things have changed considerably since the slump of a few years ago.  Scrap prices are way up and demand for quality railroad scrap metal is even higher.  There still is a large volume of railcars being retired and scraped out but that volume has to turn in a short amount of time in order to stay profitable.  Cars that are available today will probably not be there next week.  We will be happy to give you an estimated cost but just keep in mind that availability is always changing. 

UPDATE:  Paragon is no longer selling salvaged railroad cars.  It has become far too expensive to have cars sit in storage throughout North America so we have chosen to scrap cars as soon as they arrive.  We have also been asked by our business partners who are in the railcar scrap business to no longer refer people to them.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Equipment
Paragon Railcar Salvage deals in most modern railcars, such as tanks, gondolas, boxes, hoppers, and flat cars.  We do not deal in historical equipment, passenger cars or locomotives.  We are always interested in buying equipment.

Uses
Most of our equipment arrives to us via railroad on their own wheels which tells us they should meet Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) rule 1 requirements and the very least. 

Locations
All of our dismantling locations are not open to the general public.  The only dismantling facility that clients may be able to schedule a visit is in Colorado.
